The next monthly board meeting of the Padre Isles Property Owner’s Association will be held on August 29, 2023, 5:30 PM at Padre Island Baptist Church. The next ACC meeting will be held August 10, 2023, 5:30 PM at the PIPOA office.

The “No Wake” buoys to be installed at key locations in the PIPOA canals are due to be delivered next week. The buoy anchor components and yellow flashing lights have arrived. After all parts are delivered, the plan is to assemble them at the Fortuna Bay boat ramp. Board member, Bill Davenport, is looking for volunteers to help with assembly. We expect to have them installed in time for the traffic expected Labor Day weekend. Boaters, please be considerate. Throwing a wake causes damage to homeowner docks and PIPOA bulkheads.

At the last board meeting, the board accepted a bid from The Alchemist Group, LLC, for 250 feet of bulkhead repairs. The contractor will use Truline’s innovative hybrid sheet piling with 75+ life. After the delivery of materials and mobilization, the expected start date is approximately three weeks.

Also discussed was the completion last month of seventeen other bulkhead repair projects. The monthly Bulkhead and Repair Status Reports are posted to the PIPOA community website at www.padreislespoa.net. If you have any information regarding failure of a bulkhead in the PIPOA (or a report that was not previously addressed), please contact the Association as soon as possible. The bulkheads are essential to our community and a priority of this Board.

The last board meeting brought a large crowd interested in the Whitecap NPI/ PIPOA canal connection. Members were concerned regarding misinformation that the PIPOA board is attempting to prevent the canal connection. The attorney for the Association, Jeff Lehrman, explained that there is no agreement in place to connect the canals, and the PIPOA has yet to receive the developers’ plans for connection. Since the last board meeting, LJA Engineers for Diamond Beach Holdings, LLC, Jeff Coym and Mark Dison, contacted the Association and shared preliminary plans for the canal connection. There are still many details for the developer to resolve. In addition to reaching agreement with the PIPOA, they will need to access Flour Bluff ISD land to perform the work at the most viable connection point. Once the legal agreements are in place and engineering plans finalized, LJA plans to make the connection. This construction will require the PIPOA’s side of the canal to be temporarily blocked off so that the construction and the connection point will be in a “dry” canal. After the bulkhead interconnection is secure the blockages will be removed allowing the flow of water. LJA Engineering anticipates the connection will likely occur in November which also coincides with the end of Hurricane Season.

Finally, the ACC is still looking for two additional volunteers to fill vacancies on this committee. Association members with engineering, construction or planning expertise are particularly needed. If you have an interest in serving your community, please contact the PIPOA office and fill out an application.
