It was another quiet week at the PIPOA. Be careful what you wish for, the current rains will bring mosquitos and weeds.
Board Meeting- The Board meeting held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, was uneventful. Bob Corbett, our ISAC (Island Strategic Action Committee) representative, gave his report from the last ISAC meeting. He discussed short-term rentals (STRs) and Whitecap Development.
Bill Hibbs, a member of the ACC (Architectural Control Committee), gave his report. The ACC has set a new record in processing applications for construction and improvement projects on the Island. The ACC committee members are volunteers. Thank you, members, of the committee, for your hard work and dedication to the PIPOA. David Heitzman, the current chair of the ACC, was reappointed to the chair position, and Bill Hibbs was reappointed to his position as a member of the ACC.
Boat Ramp- The Caravel boat ramp will be closed for resurfacing beginning Tuesday, May 31, 2022. The resurfacing should take approximately three weeks. However, it should be open and ready for use for the July 4th holiday.
Towing- The PIPOA, in the last two weeks, has towed more than 20 vehicles and boat trailers. Many of the vehicles towed were from out of town. However, there are always those from the Island that do not have stickers, and thus they are towed as well. You must have a PIPOA vehicle and boat trailer sticker to park on the boat ramp parking lots. The purpose of the sticker is to identify members of the PIPOA. The parking on the boat ramp parking lots is for PIPOA Members only. Others may park on the street. You can purchase your stickers at the PIPOA office located at 14015 Fortuna Bay Drive.
4th of July Fireworks- Donations are needed to fund the 4th of July Fireworks program for the Island. If you wish to donate, bring a check (no cash or credit cards accepted) to the PIPOA office. The fireworks display is scheduled for Sunday, July 3.
Board Meeting- The next PIPOA Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 5:30 PM at the Padre Island Baptist Church located across from Whataburger.
Memorial Day- The PIPOA office will be closed in observance of Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2022.
